Lt. General Dr. M.L. Chibber was born in 1927. His forty years' career in the Army culminated in his being C-in-C of India's Northern Command which comprised about 300,000 personnel deployed in an eye-ball-to-eye-ball contact in a "no peace no war" confrontation with China and Pakistan; masterminded the operation to protect the Siachen Glacier from being captured by Pakistan. An officer of the 5th Gorkha Rifles, he held important appointments like - the Commander of India's counter offensive force; Adjutant General, and Director of Military Operations. Was on the faculty of the Indian Military Academy and the Defence Service Staff College. Served in Korea during 1953 on the first UN peace mission. Retired from the Army in 1985. Thereafter, for four years, he was the Chief Executive of the Management Development Institute, New Delhi. Continues as Visiting Professor, Member of the Academic Council and Board of Studies for MBA of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning; Authored many books and numerous monographs and articles on leadership and matters related to security, war and peace.
